Silence #34: 40 Ways of Being; Viola Blache, Elisabeth Hubmann en Jacob Lekkerkerker

Op 4 maart klonk in de Oude Kerk muziek van twee jonge vrouwelijke componisten: Andrea Guterres en Wilma Pistorius. Ze werken dit jaar aan de compositiereeks 40 Ways of Being (a Woman), waarvan op 4 maart het eerste deel in première ging, uitgevoerd door zangeres Viola Blache en organisten Elisabeth Hubmann en Jacob Lekkerkerker. 

‘The exhibition The Fall by Susan Philipsz engaged me deeply in thoughts of sound and space. The expression of the unpolished female voice, locally in the silos, and in fusion with the acoustic space; combined with the rebirth of Sweelinck, a man who worked here for 40 years. A melody about the transience of existence, Mein junges Leben hat ein End. It inspires me to write the first part of 40 Ways of Being (a Woman) for this space, at this moment in time.’ - Andrea Guterres
