About A Veil as a Glaze
Learn more about the work of artist Ana Navas and her exhibition during one of our guided tours. In A Veil as a Glaze, artist Ana Navas explores travelling motifs in our visual culture. Navas presents a series of glass sculptures that consist of collages of patterns she borrowed from the floral motif of the eighteenth-century wallpaper in the Spiegelkamer, the room where Rembrandt signed his marriage certificate. These patterns also appear in his portraits of Saskia as the Roman goddess Flora, Saskia being his wife and muse who was buried in the church. Navas investigates in her work how our view of the world is always influenced by our personal history, time, and environment.
About the Wallen Festival
On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June, cultural and social organisations and businesses in the Wallen will open their doors to the neighbourhood. Wander along the narrow canals and through the picturesque alleys, enjoy live music, taste local delicacies, follow a mini-workshop, and visit one of the many unique historical locations. More than 60 locations are participating with programmes that are as varied and colourful as the neighbourhood. View the full programme here.
