Summer at the Oude Kerk
The Oude Kerk is a fresh oasis in the city during the summer months. Discover the history of Amsterdam's oldest building, our current exhibition A Veil as a Glaze by artist Ana Navas, or our extensive public programme.
Now on view: Ana Navas: A Veil as a Glaze
Until 25th August
In A Veil as a Glaze, artist Ana Navas explores travelling details and motifs in our visual culture. Navas presents a series of glass sculptures composed of collages of patterns inspired by the floral motif of the eighteenth-century wallpaper in the Mirror Room, the space where Rembrandt signed his marriage certificate. The patterns also draw from his portraits of Saskia as the Roman goddess Flora. Saskia, his wife and muse, is buried in the church. The exhibition is on display throughout the summer in three unique spaces of the Oude Kerk: the Mirror Room, Oudezijdskamer, and Library.
