The trio Perselí gave an acoustic concert in the context of Antonio Obá's art installation Path.
The trio consists of singer and double bassist Fuensanta Mendes, saxophonist José Soares and trumpeter Alistair Payne. Their sensitive improvisations fuse different genres such as contemporary jazz and traditional Latin American music.
Mendes was artist in residence at the BIMHUIS in 2022 and spent the past year working on compositions inspired by her stay in Amsterdam. In the concert, improvised passages based on old folk songs alternated with soundscapes that referred to nature and our living environment. Perselí chose the high choir of the Oude Kerk as the location for the morning concert. Her music dialogued with Antonio Obá's installation Iron Garden, which consisted of two large fields of golden bells like a flower garden.
