Tours Ana Navas: A Veil as a Glaze

In A Veil as a Glaze, artist Ana Navas explores recurring motifs in our visual culture. Navas presents a series of glass sculptures that consist of collages of patterns drawn from the floral design of the eighteenth-century wallpaper in the Mirror Room, the space where Rembrandt signed his marriage certificate. The work also references his portraits of Saskia as the Roman goddess Flora. Saskia, his wife and muse, was buried in the church. Navas examines how our view of the world is always shaped by our personal history, time, and environment.
