Kunstschooldag

On 21st March, the Oude Kerk takes part in the Kunstschooldagen. The Kunstschooldag is an introduction to the Amsterdam Art World for 8th-grade students in Amsterdam.

Activity
How can you transform something you see into sound? First, you'll visit the musical and visual exhibition Meredith Monk: Calling. Monk is regarded as 'one of America's coolest composers' and 'a wizard of the voice'. Then, together with your classmates, you'll explore the church to find inspiration to create a graphic score, also known as sheet music. What shapes, patterns, and figures do you discover in the building that can form a playful composition together? And how does it sound when you try to translate such a shape into a tone, sound, or movement?

The workshops will take place in sessions at 10:00, 12:00, and 14:00. Registration is available through the Stichting Jam website.
