The first edition of this new musical evening programme features live and DJ sets by Angolan-Belgian producer Nazar and Amsterdam-based DJ Zohar. Nazar will perform his new album Demilitarise live in the Oude Kerk. The performance explores themes such as trauma and surrender, blending personal vocals with rhythmic elements from Kuduro, an electronic music style originating in Angola. The album was released on the Hyperdub label.
DJ and curator Zohar, affiliated with Garage Noord in Amsterdam, will provide the evening’s musical backdrop. She is known for her precise mixing style and unexpected selections. She has previously played at festivals such as Dekmantel and Selectors.

About Nazar
Nazar is a 28-year-old producer from Angola. He grew up in Belgium and returned to Angola in his late teens following the end of the civil war. He is currently based in Europe. On his SoundCloud page, he introduced the term Rough Kuduro—his own interpretation of the Angolan music and dance style Kuduro, shaped by personal and political context. His debut EP Enclave (2018) marked the beginning of this approach. On his album Guerrilla, Nazar reflects on the Angolan civil war, drawing from family history, conversations with his father—a former rebel general—and the latter’s published wartime journal. Each track offers a snapshot of lived or inherited experiences. Nazar’s work combines musical composition with documentary elements, presenting a soundscape that moves between the abstract and the direct. His music explores the intersection of electronic music and socio-political storytelling, focusing particularly on Angola’s recent history.
