Guitarist and composer Jonny Nash and multi-instrumentalist Tomo Katsurada share a love for organic, contemplative music. During this joint concert, they will perform pieces from Katsurada’s solo album Dream of the Egg (2024) as well as newly developed collaborative compositions. Expect dreamy guitar lines, gentle melodies, and free-form structures that blend folk, ambient, and improvisation.
About Tomo Katsurada
Tomo Katsurada rose to prominence as the guitarist and co-founder of the Japanese psychedelic band Kikagaku Moyo. In 2024, he released his solo debut Dream of the Egg, a unique project inspired by a Japanese children’s book from the 1920s. The album is both personal and experimental, handcrafted, unbound by fixed structures, and rich with emotion. Tomo’s music is introspective, poetic, and delicate — always with an open heart. His collaboration with Jonny Nash began during the creation of this album and has since evolved into an organic musical partnership.
About Jonny Nash
The Netherlands-based British musician Jonny Nash is known for his tranquil compositions that blend elements of ambient, folk, and jazz. His work is released on various labels, including Melody As Truth, which he founded himself. With albums such as Point Of Entry and the recent Once Was Ours Forever, he creates hushed sonic worlds filled with expansive guitars, whispering melodies, and layered textures. While Nash often collaborates with other musicians, his signature remains unmistakable: understated, warm, and spacious — always leaving room for the listener.
About Silence
The Silence music series is a programme of morning concerts. Every first Friday of the month, as the city awakens, musicians explore the centuries-old acoustics of the Oude Kerk. Central to the Silence series is contemporary music that fuses acoustic, digital, and electronic sounds. Following in the footsteps of Sweelinck’s walking concerts from centuries ago, the audience can move through the historic architecture, experiencing the music in a dynamic, immersive way.
