Pirard weaves analogue and digital sounds with tape loops and guitar into layered compositions, where repetitive structures and subtle tonal shifts create a hypnotic effect.
About Natasha Pirard
Natasha Pirard is a musicologist and composer from Ghent. She is fascinated by the impact of sound on the human body, its political significance, and sound pollution. Using synthesizers, tape recorders, and acoustic instruments, she creates electroacoustic music that is soft and mysterious, elusive and shimmering. Her album, Dream Cycles, was released in February 2024 on the Ghent-based label DEEWEE. It is a 120-minute exploration of sounds, loops, frequencies, and waves—a musical cycle in eight parts, divided into 15-minute sections across four cassettes, currently available exclusively at her live performances.
About Silence
Silence is a series of morning concerts. On the first Friday of every month, as the city awakens, musicians explore the centuries-old acoustics of the Oude Kerk. At the heart of the Silence series is contemporary music, where acoustic, digital, and electronic sounds merge. Inspired by Sweelinck’s walking concerts centuries ago, the audience is invited to experience the music while moving through the church’s historic architecture.
