walks & talks last weekend the fall

1 - 3 April 2022

During the closing weekend of the exhibition ‘The Fall’ (1-3 April), the Oude Kerk will present a special programme of Walks & Talks by the church’s curators. Artist Susan Philipsz has written a new sound work inspired by the music of the renowned composer Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, who was buried in the Oude Kerk in 1621. Visit ‘The Fall’ this closing weekend and join one of the Walks & Talks to learn more about the musical dialogue between Philipsz and Sweelinck, our collaboration with the artist and the creation of the exhibition. There is a limited number of tickets available per tour.

On 3 April, music curator Jacob Lekkerkerker will talk about the musical dialogue between Philipsz, Sweelink and the unique acoustics of the Oude Kerk space; on 2 April, visual arts curator Marianna van der Zwaag will talk about her collaboration with the artist and the background to the creation of this site-specific work; on 1 April, director Mariette Dölle will talk about the unique interplay between art, music and heritage that is so characteristic of the Oude Kerk.
