Early in the morning the Oude Kerk is a meditative oasis in the city, with an enervating sunrise that casts light through the church’s towering windows. At this early hour you can enjoy the Silence music programme, which provides a contemplative contrast to the normally hectic city centre.
In this edition of Silence, you can enjoy a unique spatial composition by the Italian composer Luigi Nono; La lontananza nostalgica utopica futura. Luigo Nono composed work for violinist Gideon Kremer in 1988-1989. In the Oude Kerk the work is performed by Diamanda Dramm (violin) and opponent Wouter Snoei (sound director). A universe of sound travels through the grand acoustics of the Oude Kerk.
