In The World After: Conversation Pieces we reflect on the impact of the coronavirus and look ahead to the future of the world together with artists, writers and thinkers.
What impact do crises have on the practice of artists? What is demanded of art in these times? And what does it mean to only now be able to exhibit work made before the crisis year?
Tonight artist Stéphanie Saadé will talk to curator Nat Muller, who has curated the exhibition Trembling Landscapes in Eye, and specializes in contemporary art from the Middle East. In April, Saadé recorded a video for The World After in which she reflected on the situation in Beirut. The pandemic came on top of political unrest and a severe economic crisis. After the devastating explosion of 4 August, she decided to settle in Amsterdam. How is her perspective and artistic practice influenced by the events of the past 12 months?
The conversation will be held in English. Due to the corona measures, capacity is limited, so make sure to book your ticket in advance!
