Join us on Friday evening 7 September for a tour through Anastasis by the artist Giorgio Andreotta Calò. Calò will talk about his installation in relation to the two-fold history of the Oude Kerk.
Iconoclastic Fury came to the Oude Kerk in 1566. The absence of images is still visible today; empty spots on the pillars in the choir remind us of the years of the Reformation. Anastasis by Giorgio Andreotta Calò, is a red veil that alludes to the building’s two-fold history: it contrasts the warm, colourful atmosphere of the Catholic past against the visual emptiness of the Oude Kerk as a Protestant church.
On Friday 7 September, the Oude Kerk is open until sunset. So after the tour, you can enjoy the changing light through the big red windows of the Oude Kerk. There are only 30 places available, so book your ticket now.
