about the position
During this internship you will work closely with both the Director-Curator and the Project Lead. This means an exciting mix of research and practical assistance, with an emphasis on the latter. You will have the opportunity to collaborate on the realisation of Oude Kerk’s exhibition programme with internationally renowned artists such as Adrián Villar Rojas, multiple concert-series, and public programme activities related to the exhibitions on show. Simultaneously, you will assist the Director-Curator with research and programme-development. In this way, you will gain a complete overview of the workings of a medium-large museum. Together with the team at Oude Kerk, you will go the extra mile to realise our ambitions. This means a flexible, stress-resistant attitude, a willingness to the ability to turn every problem into a new opportunity.
You are a team player with a keen mind and the guts to take on big tasks independently. You are able to combine an artistic sensibility with hands-on practicality to make every part of our programme an overwhelming success. You have excellent communication skills (a combination of English and Dutch is a plus) as well as an ability to organise and oversee complex processes. Previous experience in the cultural sector is a strong plus. Our preference goes to someone living in (or close to) Amsterdam who is available for a period of at least 6 months.
