Take part in protecting the oldest building of this city. For our upcoming exhibition, we will be preparing the church for approaching danger. Our building material: thousands of sandbags and kilometers of wood. Together we will transform the church into something unshakeable.

Looking for a physical challenge? And interested in getting to know your neighbours and fellow Amsterdammers while building a new history together? Come and give us your hands, feet, and sweat!

We are looking for people who want to contribute on volunteer basis between October 30 and November 19, on weekdays for a minimum of 1 day. Besides an unforgettable experience, you will get:

For 1 day or more

  • a healthy lunch
  • an invitation for two people to the exclusive opening of the installation on November 20, 2019, as part of the Amsterdam Art Weekend
  • 2 tickets to the installation Poems for Earthlings

For 3 days or more

  • all of the above, PLUS
  • a year-long free pass to the concert series Silence in 2020 (total 10 concerts)

For 5 days or more

  • all of the above, PLUS
  • a year-long free pass to the Oude Kerk in 2020
  • a year-long free pass to the concert series Monuments and Playing the Cathedral in 2020 (total 5 concerts)

All volunteers will enter into a draw for a one-night stay in “het Huisje van Gerda”, one of the pictoresque houses attached to the church.

Will you join us to make new history? Then fill in the form to sign up via this link. For more information, you can contact volunteercoordinator Kim Evers at See you soon!
