more oude kerk

Open the doors to the various side rooms – the College Room, the Mirror Room, the Board Room, the Holy Sepulchre, the Iron Chapel and the library – and discover both the rich history and the collection of the oldest building in Amsterdam.

oude kerk

Heritage, art, music and, on Sundays, churchgoers continue to congregate in the oldest building of the city (1306).

The Oude Kerk presents itself in various ways: three or four international and high-profile exhibitions a year, numerous activities, permanent collection presentations and wonderful near-weekly concerts, to name but a few.

In 2013, after careful restoration, the monumental church building was reopened to the public with a new programme centring on art. Different artists ‘perform’ site-specific pieces in the church space three times a year. The side rooms house the historical collection, complemented by contemporary works of art. The attractive coffee shop with convent garden and the museum shop provide the perfect start or conclusion of every visit.
