lady chapel with the 'death of virgin mary' window

 A'dam OK 172

This eighteenth-century watercolour by Hermanus Petrus Schouten (1747-1822) shows the Lady Chapel with the ‘Sterfbed van Maria’ stained-glass window. Beneath the window stand two gentlemen in conversation about a newly dug grave, while a sumptuously dressed couple wanders through the church arm in arm. Next to the ‘Death of the Virgin Mary’ window one can see part of the stained-glass window commemorating the city’s burgomasters.
