In this painting by Jan van der Heijden (1637–1712), the Oude Kerk is partially hidden behind the trees. Van der Heijden has depicted the buildings very precisely. The human figures were probably added by Adriaen van de Velde (1636–1672) to add more vitality. Van der Heijden was both a painter and an inventor: he was the deviser of the streetlamp and fire pump. Van der Heijden is buried in the Oude Kerk.
