This drawing was made by Hermanus Petrus Schouten circa 1786. Schouten worked as a printmaker, aquarellist, etcher, painter and draughtsman in Amsterdam and produced several depictions of the Oude Kerk. This drawing was used as the basis for two watercolours that are almost identical, the only difference being the position of the human figures.
